Resumo
To investigate the emotional repercussions experienced by nursing professionals while coping with the covid-19 pandemic. Method: descriptive study with a qualitative
approach. Data collection took place through semi-structured interviews with 19 nursing
professionals who worked on the front line, these were transcribed and coded with the help of
the ATLAS.ti 8.0 software and the precepts of the Thematic Network analysis. The study complied with current ethical regulations and was approved by the Research Ethics Committee of the State University of Amazonas- CEP/UEA (n° 4.805.240). Results: The participants are nurses (68%) and nursing technicians/assistants (32%), working in hospital services (40%) and
with a professional experience of 1 to 3 years (32%). From the Emotional Repercussions Thematic Network four themes emerged: unexpected changes, increased tensions, emotional suffering and psychosocial support strategies. In the study, it was found that professionals have a higher risk of mental and emotional distress. Conclusion: it is essential to adopt initiatives that promote the health of these professionals, as well as to improve working conditions and
the quality of care provided to users, while seeking to generate scientific knowledge relevant to
the field of nursing and of health
