“Só homens fotógrafos, ela a única mulher”: A trajetória de Célia Sicsu, a primeira fotógrafa parintinense século XX2

Abstract

This article examines the trajectory of Célia Sicsu dos Santos, possibly the first female photographer in Parintins-AM, seeking to document her life story and understand her contribution within the context in which she lived. The research, situated within the fields of Oral History, Memory, and Gender, is based on the oral accounts of her children, allowing us to observe the dimensions of her experience as a woman who faced and broke down barriers in a predominantly male profession. In light of discussions on gender as a category of analysis, we reflect on the challenges and inequalities present in her trajectory. Methodologically, the study uses Oral History to analyze the testimonies, complemented by secondary sources that broaden the understanding of her path and legacy.
