Resumo
Northeastern migrants residing in the city of Parintins/AM have made a significant contribution to the city's social and economic development. This study aims to analyze the reterritorialization process of these migrants in the city, specifically in the Paulo Corrêa neighborhood. The specific objectives are as follows: i – How social networks among migrants influence the migration process and subsequent phases of reterritorialization; ii – The motivations, causes, and main difficulties of integration into local society; iii – The profile of activities and the characteristics that emerge during reterritorialization, such as the maintenance of cultural and identity aspects. The neighborhood was chosen for research due to its origins in irregular settlements, its large population, and its strong influence on commerce and migration. The article is composed of three parts. The first discusses migration, deterritorialization, and social support networks, referencing authors in geography. The second presents the methodology used, the data collected, and the interviews conducted. The third part presents the results and discussions on the process of reterritorialization of migrants in the neighborhood. The hypothesis put forward in the article is that many identity and cultural attributes were reterritorialized in a new environment, appearing as a way to minimize the impacts of migration, and these findings were corroborated and obtained during this study.
