Abstract

This Final Course Work aims to contemplate the history and indigenous protagonism, essentially, in the colonial Amazon (1741-1757), however, analyzing certain permanences of indigenous culture in contemporary times. In this way, research the nuances of indigenous cultural permanence, through some evidence, to verify its permanence in time. We will problematize the colonial period through the book published in 2004, Tesouro Descoberto no Máximo Rio Amazonas (Volumes I and II), written by the Jesuit priest João Daniel. We use the reflections of Almir Diniz de Carvalho Júnior (2005), who brought significant contributions to understand the actions of indigenous people in the colonial world, regarding the adoption of a new identity by indigenous people, as a form of resistance and survival, in the context of the process of Christianization of the original peoples. In short, we see certain forms of identity resistance, for example, understanding that the mechanisms of struggle in the past contributed to certain permanences of indigenous history and culture, in contemporary times.
