Resumo
The Fourth Industrial Revolution, known as Industry 4.0, emerged based on a
transformation of the entire production way in factories through the fusion of digital
technology and the internet. This technological disruption requires sophisticated
resources, especially the people who will work with these systems, where it is
necessary to have skills and competences to deal with new market demands. In this
sense, training qualified employees is essential for society. This applies to the
Amazonian reality, where the industrial center has local companies that face issues in
relation to the maintenance of their operations. So, it is important to reflect on the status
of the undergraduation courses in the state of Amazonas in face of the demands
imposed by the market. Therefore, this study seeks to identify challenges to Industrial
Engineering courses in Amazonas for the training of new professionals in the context
of Industry 4.0. From a literature review, 22 skills and competences required in the
Industry 4.0 were found. From an investigation of the Courses Pedagogical Project
were identified 44 skills and competences proposed for the development of Industrial
Engineering students in the universities delimited by the study. With the data collected,
an analysis was carried out, through a comparative matrix, of the adherence of I4.0
skills and competences among the skills currently developed in universities. It is
concluded that local universities have a low level of adhesion of skills and competences
to be developed in future Industrial Engineers to solve challenges in I4.0 environments.
Therefore, adjustments are necessary by institutions to develop the new skills required
by the market in their courses.
