Resumo
To assess Patient Safety Culture (PSC) from the perspective of the nursing team in
the surgical center of an emergency hospital in northern Brazil. Methods: This is a cross-
sectional, descriptive study with a quantitative approach. The sample consisted of 71
professionals between August and September 2021. The “Hospital Survey on Patient Safety
Culture” questionnaire was used to assess the PSC. Data analysis was performed using
descriptive statistics and Cronbach's Alpha test. Results: Of the two dimensions evaluated, only
four dimensions were classified as potential areas, the other dimensions were presented as
weak, in addition, 87% of the participants reported not having made “any notification” of events
in the last year. Conclusions: The study highlights the weakness of the PSC, demonstrating the
importance of strengthening all dimensions that compose it, since none was identified as strong
for the PSC.
