Resumo
This article is of a bibliographic nature and aims to analyze the tragic circumstances that transformed women in monsters and monstruous women through the characters of Graeco-Latin myths. For this, it is intended to make a cut of the works of Euripides, Seneca, Apollonius of Rhodes, Homer and Ovid. In order to have a better understanding, a distinction will be made between what it is to be a monstrous and what it is to be a monster, to then analyze the causes that transformed them into very cruel and feared beings in mythology and literature. Next, we will analyze the mythological path of Medea, Medusa and Scylla. The purpose of this article is to contribute to the academic area with knowledge about Graeco-Latin mythology, studies and the construction of the feminine in classical literature.
