Resumo
Cars that attend Formula SAE competition are recognized by the agility in curves and
high acceleration from stand position, being such characteristics developed along an extensive
work among many areas that comprises the vehicle. One of them, even though not outstanding,
contributes significantly for a better performance, being the gear shifting system. This work has
the goal of developing a simplified gear shifting system, aiming improvements related to pilot
ergonomics and performance of the teams that adopt the structure established along the content,
always having in mind the lowest cost possible and implementation/replication system easiness.
To achieve this goal, the research happened through the development of a code responsible for
gear changing process (paddle shift) and functional tests at hardware and firmware simulation
platform called Proteus, comprising metal oxyde field effect transistors, solid state relays and
microcontrolled platform (Arduino). As a result, the system presented expected operation in all
simulations made.
