Resumo

This study presents an analysis of the morphoanatomy and leaf architecture of three Amazonian species of the genus Garcinia L. (Clusiaceae): G. fluviatilis Mouzinho & L. Marinho, G. leptophylla Bittrich and G. macrophylla Mart. The research aims to contribute with anatomical data still little explored in the group, using light microscopy and diaphanization. Collenchyma, parenchyma, vascular bundles, sclerenchymatic fibers, secretory canals, types of stomata and venation pattern were analyzed. According to the descriptions, significant differences were found between the species, mainly related to the arrangement and quantity of vascular bundles, thickness of the sclerenchymatic sheaths, location of the secretory canals and leaf margins, followed by the craspedodromous and cladodromous venation pattern. Thus, in view of the morpho-anatomical aspects, the species have distinctions related mainly by the formation of the vascular bundles of the central vein. The study implies novelties not previously presented for the genus and strengthens the support of anatomical knowledge for the Clusiaceae family. Keywords: leaf architecture, diaphanization, morphoanatomy
