Resumo
To analyze the level of Emotional Intelligence in undergraduate nursing students in
the north of the country. Methodology: This is a descriptive study with a quantitative approach,
conducted in Manaus, at the State University of Amazonas, analyzing 131 students from the
course. Results: The data shows that 75.8% are women and 89.6% are from Manaus. Regarding
Emotional Intelligence (EI), 76.6% rate it as average and 10.9% as high. Concerning emotional
attention, 46.9% pay attention to their feelings and 35.2% are frequently concerned about their
emotional state. In terms of emotional clarity, 55.5% understand their feelings well and 52.3%
can define them clearly. Although 28.9% have difficulty expressing emotions, 46.1% sometimes
identify their emotions and 53.1% understand them. Regarding emotional repair, 35.2% maintain
an optimistic outlook, 33.6% focus on pleasant things, 28.1% think about life's pleasures, and
36.7% seek positive thoughts. Approximately 44.5% try to calm themselves in difficult situations
and 41.4% worry about their emotional state. Although there is an understanding and definition
of feelings, they face difficulties in clearly expressing emotions. Conclusion: Emotional repair
strategies are observed, such as an optimistic outlook and the pursuit of positive thoughts to cope
with adverse emotional states.
