Resumo
In times of crisis, such as the one that the country is experiencing, in which, the
political-economic system, in addition to the health care system, were strongly
affected, the loss of jobs is a consequence, so many workers chose informality as an
alternative to unemployment, a striking aspect in Brazilian history. Informal work when
related to work through application can be included in the concept of the Gig Economy. The drivers and deliverers couriers represent one of the professions that have most
entered this intermediation market conducted by application management companies.
Given this context, the objective of the research is to analyze the characteristics of
work through application related to unemployment in the city of Manaus, for this was
conducted a quali-quantitative research, with the use of a bibliographic survey and the
application of a questionnaire, which raised questions about the working conditions
and the profile of these workers. The survey identified that while a parcel was already
working informally, many entered this niche during the pandemic, deliveries and drivers
have a mostly male profile and deal with financial insecurity, high workload, and lack
of basic benefits every day. Finally, it was possible to infer that this is a vulnerable work
that lacks rights and guarantees, and it is necessary to take a more humane look at
these professionals.
