Resumo

This paper presents the results of a qualitative-quantitative research that aimed to report the challenges and possibilities for the teaching of geography in remote and hybrid modalities at elementary and high school levels of a private unit in Manaus, in the context of the pandemic of the Coronavirus in 2020. In a specific way, we sought to: 1) Contextualize the new educational reality from the Coronavirus pandemic in relation to the use of technologies; 2) Point out the benefits and main difficulties mentioned by the students to follow the remote and hybrid teaching modality; 3) Describe the attempts and possibilities for teaching geography in the private system in the context of the pandemic, in remote and hybrid teaching modalities. Through a self-assessment questionnaire, 290 (51.33%) of the 565 elementary and high school students participated with their experiences in relation to the modalities of emergency education regarding the items Study guide, Sending activities, Use of technology, Contact with Teachers and Learning. From the tabulation of data and construction of graphs, a profile of students was found who, in general, defined themselves as: interested in study scripts and classes, able to use the educational portal (Virtual Learning Environment) as the main source of return and registration of activities and equipped with access to technological equipment (averaging over 80%) and internet to monitor their classes and activities on a daily basis. As for Learning, 54.90% of elementary school students and 48.33% of high school students thought they had learned new concepts, even studying at home. The important association between the teaching of geography and the use of technologies was also presented, through the application of active learning methodologies such as the production of illustrations, blogs, projects, the use of applications and games that contributed to the construction of an education amid a pandemic and emergency context. Keywords: Teaching Geography. Technology. Student experience. Remote and hybrid teaching. Active Methodologies.
