Resumo
This article will analyze the impacts of the implementation of a new electronic document
management system – SIGED, on the administrative procedures of a protocol in a higher
education institution-HEI. The challenges of transitioning from a system with physical
processes to a fully digital one is the object of this study, considering that its benefits can be
seen in the short and long term, but for a better result, it is necessary to identify and mitigate its
limitations. Thus, the objective is to explain the relevance of the protocol sector in an institution,
indicate the changes that this implementation of the system caused, as well as identify its
impacts, benefits and limitations so that continuous improvement can be worked on in a public
agency. It was observed that limitations such as tools and training were pointed out, on the other
hand, it is satisfying users and bringing benefits such as economy, speed and reliability.
