The assumptions are based on ideas of Mantoan (2003), Santos (2000), Auler (1998), Trivelato (1993), Chassot (2006), Gondim & Mól (2009). This work suggests that the CTS, popular knowledge linked to science teaching could work as support for constructing knowledge. It is up to the school to find ways to address this knowledge and introduce them into classroom, so the student will find ways to develop attitudes and values in order to become critical and persons responsible for society.
