Item Variação, preconceito e intolerância linguística: do ambiente físico para o digital(Universidade do Estado do Amazonas, 2019-01-21) Evangelista, Camilla dos Santos; Barros, Nathalie Anne Conceição de; Martins, Silvana AndradeThis article presents reflections on the prejudice and linguistic intolerance that, at the same time, have been evidenced in social networks, specifically in Facebook. Some comments were analyzed from a post which gained notoriety in social networks because it was published by a famous Brazilian singer, in which, according to the precepts of the theory of Variationist Sociolinguistics, vehemently manifests the linguistic prejudice. For the purposes of theoretical foundation, the works of Bagno (2015, 2008, 2003), Oliveira (2012), Leite (2008) and Soares (2000) were used, as well as reflections on the relationship between the linguistic variations, social categories, the functions of language use and linguistic prejudice. When observing how the fans of the singer behave before such situation concerning the variations of the language, it was verified that the great majority agrees with such prejudgment, contempt and oppression to the deviant individual of the learned norms of the language, as shown in the posting. This allowed us to confirm the presence of linguistic prejudice in a virtual environment, demonstrating that this linguistic discrimination already strongly disseminated in the physical environment also spread in social networks, with the advent of the digital age.
