Integrating them into formal education allows for a deeper connection between the teacher and the student, between school knowledge and the students' popular knowledge. From this perspective, this research aimed to investigate the contribution of popular knowledge from riverside students in learning scientific concepts in Plant Morphology. The research was carried out at the Santa Maria Municipal School located in the agricultural village of Mocambo do Arari in the municipality of Parintins/AM. The research methodology was developed from a qualitative approach. The research subjects were 11 students from the 7th year of Elementary School and the data collection instruments included the theoretical foundation and a didactic sequence on “the characteristics of angiosperms: flowers and fruits”. The didactic sequence included: Tour around the community; Collection of branches and fruits; Conversation Circle; Production of drawings and texts about flowers; Production of drawing and text about the fruits; Carpoteca production and drywall production. The data obtained in the research were qualitatively analyzed based on the didactic sequence. We concluded that the application of the didactic sequence allowed the popular knowledge of the researched students to be revealed. The students recognized the ecological importance of flowers and fruits; the social dimension of plants for food, traditional medicine, production of perfumes and soaps (flowers). With the development of activities in the sequence, students learned about the biological importance of flowers, fruits and seeds for the sexual reproduction of plants; recognized the ecological importance of the fruits: protecting the seeds and the affection generated by contact with the flowers due to the pleasant aroma, vibrant colors, etc. The descriptions made by students in the texts and the drawings of flowers and fruits are rich in information about popular knowledge and scientific knowledge learned during the execution of the didactic sequence. Therefore, the development of this work contributed to the integration of popular knowledge with scientific knowledge in Botany and Natural Sciences.
