Resumo
The present article entitled Zeca-Dama's Tale: A reflection on the importance of the regional tale
for the valorization of Amazonian culture, inserted in the line of research ―Cultural representations in
pan-Amazonian literary works‖, has the general objective of promoting a reflection on the
importance of regional narratives for valuing Amazonian culture. About the tales
regional, initially transmitted through orality, it should be emphasized that they constitute a cultural element
important for the socialization of popular knowledge. For this purpose, the regional short story “ZecaDama”, written by Erasmo Linhares, was used as motivation for the development of this
search. Therefore, methodologically, for the study of the short story, theorists were used as:
Gotlib (1988), Bernardo (2003), Bonafim (2011), among others, that support the theoretical study
related to the topic of the article. After a theoretical study by the researcher, the story was taken as
practical reading and comprehension activity in formal education, in the Supervised Internship III class,
precisely with first-year high school students. Based on interest and socialization
of the short story “Zeca-Dama” by the students, it was found that the regional tale is a tool to motivate
reading tales written by Amazonian authors and, consequently, to value culture
regional office. However, it was also considered as a satisfactory result the interaction between the
researcher and her own mother, about the socialization of popular regional narratives.
