Resumo
In the city of Tefé, approximately 95% of residents are supplied from groundwater. It
is important that any and all use of water is deemed potable, without impurities, which
is colorless, odorless and is free of pathogenic contaminants, potable water
consumption prevents diseases like amoebiasis, schistosomiasis; Viral Hepatitis type
A; Cholera , leptospirosis, typhoid fever, among others, is also important to know that
with poor quality water is responsible for about 80% of all diseases affecting people,
consumption as drinking, eating food washed with contaminated water and bathe in
polluted waters are health risks. This work aims to diagnose students' knowledge of
public schools (over 13 years) on the issue of contaminated water and its risks. Was done to evaluate a questionnaire on knowledge to such matters and where they were
purchased. The results showed that students have reached knowledge above 50%,
the index score was the lowest of waterborne diseases, such were possible
knowledge acquired through various means, like on TV, at school and in lectures.
According to data obtained from the Municipal Health Tefé, the disease that spreads
more is diarrhea caused by ingestion, food made and consumed contaminated water,
even noting that students have a degree of knowledge about this matter, they still
continue to contaminate demonstrating a barrier between the acquired knowledge
and practice in their daily lives.
