Resumo

This article envisioned identifying the mathematical ideas present in handmade crochet pieces constituting a dialogue between the mathematical know/doing of the crocheter and the school mathematics through the pedagogical proposal of the Ethnomathematics. The results indicated that the production of mathematical meanings by artisans is manifested in the weaving of their pieces either through the use of units of non- conventional as fingers, in the recursive count for obtaining perfect symmetries or in the geometry of their drawings, in addition, the approximation of everyday situations through the practice investigated with the contents mathematicians worked, percentage and rule of three, made it possible to integrate new meanings in students on the multiple mathematical languages produced as subjects characterized by culture, history and society, incorporating school mathematics values of humanity.
