Youth and Adult Education often does not receive the attention
necessary, which provides an adequate knowledge environment for students
so they can get better learning.
In this sense, the Brazilian Yearbook of Basic Education 2020, which is
consisting of data from the Ministry of Education (MEC), National Institute of
Educational Studies and Research Anísio Teixeira (Inep) and others, points out that the
Youth and Adult Education in the country is still experiencing problems such as the drop in
enrollment in the EJA of Fundamental Level that had a decline during the last
10 years (CRUZ, 2020).
In view of this, this scenario needs to change, since the state has the
duty to develop appropriate public policies for this modality, which is
composed of workers, mothers and fathers who seek a better future for their
family. That is, these students need extra attention, since,
many arrive tired at home and later exhausted in class.
Such factors influence students' learning, especially in
disciplines that require a little more attention, such as mathematics, being
considered by many to be a difficult discipline to understand.
In this sense, in order to facilitate student learning,
emerging new teaching methodologies in mathematics, as an example of this, we quote:
Information and Communication Technology - ICTs, Ethnomathematics,
Transversality, Interdisciplinarity and Problem Solving among others.
Therefore, these can be worked in a way linked to the contents
mathematics, such as the percentage, where students demonstrate difficulties in
assimilate such a theme.
In this sense, it can be thought that teaching Percentage through the
Problem Solving, can be an alternative capable of generating learning
significant. In fact, since problem solving is a topic that
10
needs students to be well focused, it is necessary that the teacher
provide differentiated classes for the student to succeed in solving
situations proposed to them.
In view of the above, we can ask the following question: What are the
contributions of Problem Solving in the learning of Education students
of Youth and Adults regarding the content Percentage?
