Resumo
This dissertation consists in a bibliographical review whose main objects are the
categories of justice and time, as well as the study of their relationship, in order to approach to
the principle of reasonable length of process, a constitutional guarantee that takes root in
human rights international deals. This scientific work also describes the workflow of the
Brazilian criminal justice system, specifically in the jurisdiction of Manaus/Amazonas, under
the perspective of the due process of law theory, dealing with judicial delinquency and
discussing the effects of non-compliance with this procedural guarantee against delays
unduly. On the other hand, the present study exteriorize the understanding of the Brazilian’s
courts jurisprudence and of the international human rights courts regarding the reasonable
duration of the process, as well as establish a compared study about the legislation of other
countries. Lastly, the author publishes a statistical research and analysis data concerning
criminal cases seven years after the criminal act in the city of Manaus/AM.
