Resumo
This work dissertational is a question of great relevance to the global context in which Brazil
is inserted: the principle of sustainable city in the Brazilian urbanization with a focus on case
study of the city of Manaus. And, for the present paper, the method was used together with
the necessary bibliographic review of the main laws of the urban municipality in question,
combined with study of the laws pertaining to cities in general, local, state and federal. All
this in order to convey a better understanding of the topic discussed here. Therefore, it took
off four chapters. In the first chapter, there was an explanation about the principle of the right
to sustainable city, considering the principles on the Brazilian, the importance of the
principles for Environmental Law and Urban Law, through the concepts of fundamental
rights, emphasizing the principle of the right to sustainable city as a fundamental right. The
second chapter tells us about the regulatory instruments of the delineators urban law, urban
planning as well as the development of cities in general, explaining the role of urban planning
and urban law the law of Brazil, presented important concepts for the study and the screen
major urban laws. In the third chapter, were treated the historical aspects of the urbanization
of Manaus, but also the social, political, economic and environmental issues, focusing on key
stages. Since the last chapter brought the current aspects of the urbanization of Manaus,
expounding on the economic, social, political and environmental. This work aims also discuss
the situation of the urban city of Manaus, mainly related to the limited mobility in the use of
motor vehicles as well as the movement of pedestrians in areas with minimal structure for
security of the population.
