Resumo

To evaluate the dynamics of elderly people in rural and riverside communities in Amazonas during the Covid-19 pandemic. Method: This is a descriptive qualitative research carried out in two communities belonging to the metropolitan region of the city of Manaus, with 14 elderly people. Data collection was carried out through a Focus Group approach using the Content Analysis technique in the thematic modality. Results and discussion: Data categorization enabled the emergence of 3 categories related to family relationships, care and family distancing during the pandemic. The results allowed the family profile of the riverside elderly to be traced, in addition to showing feelings such as loneliness, sadness and fear arising from the elderly, how this affected their life and daily life, and the changes in the family dynamics of this population. Final considerations: The profile of the rural and riverside family and its relationship with the elderly are surrounded by tradition, customs and regionality. Even though a large part of the population was negatively affected during the pandemic, with isolation bringing negative consequences for family relationships, such as conflicts and disagreements, the rural and riverside communities studied suffered the opposite impact, with the tightening and strengthening of family ties. . As nurses, knowledge about the dynamics of rural and riverside life and the difficulties faced during the pandemic period is extremely important, for a multidimensional and comprehensive approach to the elderly
