História e cultura afro no ensino de história através do documentário Atlântico Negro na rota dos Orixás

Abstract

This article aims to reflect on Afro history and culture in the teaching of history through the black atlantic documentary. Addressing issues such as law 10.639/03, which established the obligation to discuss Afro-Brazilian culture in schools from elementary to high school, public and private. We also seek to discuss the use of new methodologies and sources in the classroom, as the teacher needs new tools in addition to the textbook to create a more dynamic class. For this, it was necessary to analyze the documentary black atlantic on the route of the orixás (1998) by director Renato Barbiere, which addresses issues related to the teaching of African and Afro-Brazilian history, as the film reflects on aspects of both continents.
