Resumo
This research aims to investigate the perception of teachers of a municipal school in the city of Manaus, regarding the importance of identifying subjects with high skills / giftedness. Motivated by the meetings in the gifted research group in 2012 held at UEA, we decided to continue the studies of the theme, followed by the theoretical framework, which presents us with a world of concepts, characteristics, potentials, curiosities about the enchanting universe that is that of people with high skills / giftedness. The research was developed through the qualitative approach, using as data collection instrument, the field notebook and semi-structured interview. The participants involved in this research are three teachers who work in the regular classroom and one teacher who serves the resource room. The research has as general objective: To analyze the importance of the identification of the subject with high abilities / giftedness by the teacher of the regular education, and is organized in two thematic chapters: 1) Conceptions about high abilities / giftedness (AH / S) in the school context and 2) Recognizing the student with high skills / giftedness in the integral school. Data analysis made it possible to understand the reasons that hinder the identification process of these students through the investigative look of the educators of the researched school network, showing as a result that the teachers' lack of knowledge about the theme is due to the lack of training aimed at for the high skills / giftedness.
