Resumo

The present study discusses the contribution of continuing education to the care of students with visual impairment, this brings, as an epistemological approach, the social view on people with visual impairment. Thus, the general objective was to get to know the work and the contribution of a Pedagogical Support to assist People with Visual Disabilities (CAP) for the continuing education of teachers who work with visually impaired students in the state schools system in Manaus. And, as specific objectives: to understand the functioning of the Pedagogical Support Center to assist People with Visual Disabilities (CAP); identify continuing education courses held at CAP; and verify the contribution of training for teachers who serve students with visual impairments in ordinary education. It is a research with a qualitative, descriptive and field approach. The investigation took place at CAP/AM based on the consultations of documents and involved 28 subjects who participated in the continuing education course from 2017 to 2019. For data collection, a semi-structured questionnaire was used, which was sent to participants by through the Google Forms tool. The data show the importance of CAP/AM for educations in the State of Amazonas; need for investment (financial, human resources, materials) and strengthening of the actions developed, such as the expansion of new courses and offers.
