Resumo
The present work seeks to understand the Amazonian geographic thought in its transformation
movements, establishing as temporality the beginning of the 1980s until 2017. In this sense,
thinking about Amazonian Geography and its consolidation implied thinking about the Amazon
region and its particularities, which created conditions for the epistemological bases to be
defined. From institutionalization, the work also sought to think about the paradigms and
ruptures of Brazilian Geography that projected their consequences in the work. The choice of
analysis involved the understanding of the theses in their theories, methods and predominant
concepts, which thus proved to be fundamental for the apprehension of the Amazonian
geographical thought. The most recent events and movements were also considered, since the
effort to think the thought imposes openings to future research - because it is a constant
Geography, which is built and reconstructed all the time. In the end, the articulation of local
Geography with the national context was verified, by recognizing, in a procedural way, the
participation of institutions and characters that helped in the formation of the state's
geographical identity. In this sense, the work proves to be powerful in capturing – extrapolating
its scope – the geographic thought in the Amazon and its construction perspectives, not being,
therefore, a periodically dated research.
