Migração e a territorialidade dos judeus na Amazônia: influências e mudanças culturais na cidade de Manaus-AM, Amazônia Ocidental

Abstract

This work aims to understand the migratory process of Jews to the Amazon and the influences, changes and permanence introduced by Jewish culture in the territorialities of the populations of the city of Manaus/AM, Western Amazon. And as specific objectives: To analyze the historical context and the reasons that resulted in the migratory flow of Jews to the Amazon; Understand the territoriality and territory of Jewish culture, spatial representations of the Jewish imagination and their influences on the territorialities of the Amazonian population; To identify the importance of Jewish culture in the Amazon and sociocultural, economic and religious transformations implemented in the culture of the populations in the city of Manaus, state of Amazonas. The study area corresponds to the city of Manaus, state of Amazonas, Western Amazon. The method employed in this work is the dialectic, as realities and phenomena are understood through oppositions and contradictions. The methodology has a qualitative approach with an exploratory descriptive character. Bibliographic research was carried out that allowed the understanding of the migration of Jews to the Amazon and its influences and cultural changes. In the documentary research, materials available on the internet (online) and in print were consulted, which were fundamental for understanding the historical context and the reasons for Jewish migration in the Amazon. In the field research, it was possible to make an in loco visit, carry out unstructured interviews (open questions) and intersubjective dialogues with institution representatives and research subjects to obtain data collection, where historical facts and the historical contextualization of the culture were recorded. In this sense, Jews migrated to the Amazon in search of new opportunities and because they were the target of religious and ethnic persecution, processes that have historically materialized.
