Resumo
The work aims to analyze the relationship of Cultural Geography with the phenomenon
of popular "saints" in Manaus, seeking to describe concepts for the development and
understanding of research. It also seeks to relate the Phenomenology of Religion with
the popular “saints” in such a way that the reader is interested in the theme presented
and an understanding of how these phenomena appear in the popular view of religion.
The history of these people, considered “holy” by the population, needs to be told within
the historical and social context in which they find themselves today. The theme has as
its method the Phenomenological based on qualitative research from the bibliographic
study through memories, narratives and documents. Within Phenomenology are some
key concepts for a better understanding of the research. The results use concepts of
Culture, Cultural Geography, Phenomenology and Phenomenology of Religion as well
as the history of the “popular saints described and the acts of devotion by the
population”. Finally, through the study carried out, it was possible to reach the
conclusion that popular faith is present today even though it has been years after the
events occurred and that Culture is a fundamental part in the development of life in
society.
