Resumo

The word conception is based on the assumption that there is a conceptual substrate that plays a determining role in thought and action. The arrangements of human social life have a direct link to education. Education is understood as a process that permeates the construction of individual and collective knowledge in a society. The school, understood as an institution of formal education, responsible for working the knowledge produced in different scientific areas, culturally selected in the curriculum, is just one of the forms of the educational process. Non-Formal Education is intended to recognize the potential of the Non-Formal Space for education and integrate them with the content to be taught at school. The activity in Non-Formal Spaces proves to be valid both for dynamizing the teaching-learning process, as well as for sensory, motor and affective development. This research aims to understand what conceptions teachers of Natural Sciences have about the use of non-formal spaces in the city of Manaus. In this research, a qualitative approach was used, as to the nature of the research was descriptive, because it is the one that answers very particular questions and works with the universe of meanings, motives, aspirations, beliefs, values and attitudes, the nature of the research was descriptive, because it sought to describe a reality, without interfering in it. The research subjects were fourteen teachers of science in practice of the profession in elementary school. It was carried out through the extension project of the State University of Amazonas. For data collection, semi-structured questionnaires, observation, and the logbook of 14 natural science teachers were used. The research took place in three non-formal spaces of the City of Manaus, being: Mindu Municipal Park, Sumaúma State Park and The Science Grove. The research was carried out in four stages, being: (1) application of the Questionnaire to teachers; (2) carrying out training activities with teachers in the NEs; (3) preparation and realization of a lesson plan by teachers using NES; (4) analysis and interpretation of data. The results show that teachers have different conceptions, 57% understand that formal education is that which takes place in the school environment, 43% of teachers believe that non-formal education takes place outside the school environment, 29% understand that it occurs in open spaces and outside the school. 50% claim to have already used non-formal spaces in classes. All teachers interviewed believe that the use of non-formal spaces in science teaching is important. With these results, it can be concluded that few teachers had contact with non-formal spaces during their initial training. It is necessary to rethink the training curriculum for teachers of Natural Sciences and Biology, considering the inclusion of new methodologies and facilitating tools in the teaching and learning process. Keywords:Non-Formal Spaces, Conception, Science Teaching, Non-Formal Education.
