Combater o bom combate: estilhaços da guerra pela libertação de Angola em Mayombe, de Pepetela

Abstract

Literature that undertakes to portray traumatic events such as war subjects itself to various issues that go well beyond all the pages of narration. This paper aims to investigate how the shrapnel of the war for the liberation of Angola circulates within the Angolan novel Mayombe (1980), by Pepetela. Concepts such as memory and the literary accounts of war will be the leading threads that to highlight, enumerate and discuss the shards that trace back the agents that motivated the armed combat, the man-soldier and his ideals to swell the ranks of history, liberation and the (re)creation of engaged art.
