Resumo

It will be explored the tragic link established between the representative human and animal characters and animals included in the short story Mumu, by the Russian Ivan Turguêniev (2007), and in the novel Vidas Secas, by the Brazilian Graciliano Ramos (2009). The methods assumed by Comparative Comparative Literature and the theories advocated by Zooliterature. It is compared the relationship of established between the protagonists Guerassim and Fabiano with their respective pets (Mumu and pets (Mumu and Baleia), establishing common points between the two narratives narratives, examining how the authors use the figure of the animal in the plots to deal with intrinsically human human issues, and incisively studying the institution of the tragic element throughout element throughout the plots as a culminating factor in the connection between the two works.
