Estudos matemáticos em projetos interdisciplinares: o caso da fabricação de detergente

Abstract

The article deals with an experiment report on detergent manufacturing, performed with students of the 3rd grade of high school at a public school in São João de Meriti, Rio de Janeiro. Several concepts of Mathematics and Chemistry were worked out, such as the logarithm and pH balance. The main objectives of the study were: to understand the production process of the cleaning product, explore content and produce 50 liters of detergent. Initially the students produced 10 liters (in portions of 2 L) to understand the steps. Then the formula for the amount of 50 liters was obtained through the understanding of some properties of the substances and calculations of proportion. The project has aroused interest in the study, enabled the understanding of detergent manufacturing, stimulated research and critical thinking, and provided the development of the ability of calculation, creativity and concentration. The end result was the production of a large amount of detergent that was used by the project's students and school staff. Keywords: Interdisciplinary Project. Learning Ambient. Mathematics.
