In this context, this paper aims to understand the contributions of an activity called “Night at the Museum” for scientific literacy of students. The activity was carried out throughout 2009, culminating in a set of actions developed by a research project that aimed to promote actions to popularize science and assessment of the level of scientific and technological literacy in public schools in basic education. Testimonies of twenty-eight participant students were analyzed “Night at the Museum” through Discursive Textual Analysis. Thereby from the analysis four categories emerged: understanding of scientific concepts; understanding of the processes of science; understanding of the relationship between science, technology and environment; and collaborative learning. The results pointed to the importance of promoting actions articulating science museums, schools and universities with proposed activities that enable the understanding of processes and situations involving scientific knowledge to construction of a critical consciousness. Key words: Scientific literacy. Science museum. Popularization of science.
