Praça Digital Cristo Redentor e a desconstrução da identidade de um fragmento do espaço urbano de Parintins – AM

Abstract

Squares are one of the most important public spaces in the history of cities. In the course of human history, the square has undergone several changes in terms of its functional and structural character, today it presents itself as a place for meeting and leisure, and in its landscape it has marks that narrate the history of a people, witnessing transformative processes that have taken place in the city over time. Based on the idea that the landscape tells the history of the place, this study analyzes the landscape of Praça Digital Cristo Redentor, understanding that it has undergone different transformations in the course of its history. This study has the general objective to present the Cristo Redentor Digital Square as a (de)constructed landscape. Aiming to understand its processes of change since its creation, from the comparative analysis between the transformations that took place in the landscape. To achieve this objective, a bibliographic survey was first carried out, as well as those that encompass the main concepts about urban space, place and landscape. As a theoretical basis we have the contributions of Ana Fani Alessandri Carlos (2004), Roberto lobato Corrêa (1989), Milton Santos (2008), among others. Two fieldworks were also carried out to obtain much better information about the object of the research. The field activity was divided into two moments, first, an observation survey was carried out in the place during the different periods of the day, in the second moment, 80 interviews were carried out with visitors to the Digital Cristo Redentor square. Starting from the analysis of the study, we collected data that show that due to the changes that the square underwent, there was a loss of identification of the users regarding the aesthetic and landscape issue, therefore, when talking about the urban landscape of the square, it appears that it does not presents more the same characteristics of the old landscape that are present in the affective memory of the population that usually frequents it, and that, in addition, they do not identify with the new name of the square that became called Praça digital Cristo Redentor that makes a allusion to a new one that is not recognized by many inhabitants of the city of Parintins.
