Resumo
In this work, case studies were carried out using additive manufacturing techniques in a
company producing household appliances in the Manaus industrial hub, with the aim of
reducing prototype production time, reducing the consumption of raw materials in the
manufacture of devices, and providing designers and engineers with highquality
prototypes for validating design and concepts in their projects. Opportunities for applying
the hypothesis in a PIM company were analyzed, 3D modeling of possible prototypes,
slicing of 3D models, validation tests of the prototypes created. In order to demonstrate
the functionality of the topic in question, 8 projects were presented, such as,1 Base
prototype of keys with air guide,2Setup block for microwave oven cabinet bending
machine,3 Bending matrix for copper tubes, 4 Support for airconditioning PCB board on
assembly line, 5 Modification to copper tube soldering jigs,6 Jigs for dimensional
checking of airconditioning copper tubes 7 Jig for mounting fan in airconditioning,8
Power test jig for microwave lamps. All the projects were implemented in a company in the
industrial hub of Manaus. Each project had different objectives, such as improving the
assembly line process, verifying quality, reducing material costs, rapid prototyping,
assembly jigs, bringing the company a financial return. The 8 case studies resulted in a
gain of R$300,000.00 in avoided costs, a reduction in the time it takes to make parts from
1 week to 1 hour, with an ROI of 1348% if they were made outside the company. As a
result, this work will provide cost savings, reduced manufacturing time and flexibility for
project development in companies.
