Project management is an area that has been increasingly valued in the job market,
as many companies seek to innovate in their products and/or services in order to
achieve competitive advantage, adopting project management methodologies to
introduce new models. Unfortunately, many organizations do not have the project
sector within their organizational structure and do not have experienced professionals
in this sector to manage their projects. Because of this, many of those in charge of
these types of projects are employees who do not have solid knowledge in project
management, often leading to unsuccessful ventures. In this sense, the present work
aims to analyze the implementation project of the Neck 48mm plastic handle, carried
out by a medium-sized company located in the Industrial District of Manaus, in which
there is also no specific project management sector or professional that operates. fulltime in this role, with the manager and coordinator of the Engineering area as
responsible for the management, on a part-time basis. With this reality, in order to
reduce risks and increase the chances of success of the enterprise, those responsible
for management decided to adopt some principles of project management, more
precisely using the PMBOK guide as a basis. Bibliographic collections were collected
together with internal documents of the organization to identify the management areas
described in the PMBOK used by managers to carry out the project and also, in the
end, pointed out flaws committed and suggestions for improvements for future projects
within the company. With the analysis, it was reported that the main learning of the
project was in relation to scope management, since the handle was not in accordance
with the customers' expectations, with problems in applying them to plastic bottles.
This situation led to an increase in the cost of the project and a delay in the delivery of
the final product. Along with this, as suggestions for improvements, a checklist was
prepared in order to improve the monitoring of future projects carried out by the
institution. It was also suggested the adoption of the risk management area in future
projects, adhering to the FMEA tool, in order to help prevent possible failures.
