Resumo
This paper presents a case study with quantitative aspect, analyzing the
application of the DMAIC tool in a Kaizen project with the main objective of reducing
the cycle time of a production cell of face mask respirators and, consequently, increase
the average productivity per hour to ensure compliance with the monthly production
demand. Production cell works manually on a secondary sector industry, located in the
Manaus Free Trade Zone. To achieve this goal, a detailed process analysis was
conducted, identifying the bottlenecks and opportunities for improvement. Next, it was
necessary to implement corrective actions to ensure the improvement of the work
center. The results appreciated that the application of these tools contributed to the
improvement of the production performance, with an 8% reduction in cycle time. In
addition, it was possible to reduce process waste, with a 1% reduction in losses related
to poor quality inputs.
