Abstract

Companies are always looking for ways to improve product-related costs, and one way to reduce them is through logistics costs, where costs related to inventory, inventory, packaging, information flow, handling, legal aspects, planning can be identified. operational, warehousing and customer service, supplies, transportation and strategic planning. For this work, one must take into consideration the transportation cost. By establishing the right transportation mode through which the product will be driven, a company can achieve significant cost savings and become more competitive in the marketplace. This article is classified as a case study and presents as its main theme the cabotage maritime transportation, the transportation performed between ports, as an alternative for cost reduction in a company of Manaus Industrial Pole. A description of this mode of transport, of its current situation in Brazil, was made and its importance was highlighted for the Manaus Industrial Pole and for the state of Amazonas. A comparison was made with the modal road, emphasizing its advantages and disadvantages. A study of freight costs was carried out in a company from the Manaus Industrial Pole's electro-electronic sector, manufacturer of set top boxes and broadbands, to prove that it presented a cost reduction when replacing road transportation with cabotage shipping. of the products of the two largest national clients, in the Amazonas - São Paulo and Amazonas - Paraná axes.
