The need to reflect on sustainability in rural territories, specifically in the agricultural village of Mocambo, led to this research, pointing out several problems that permeate this location, thus relating to the dimensions of sustainability: Social, Economic, Ecological, Environmental, Territorial and Cultural, necessary for the local quality of life. Of the results achieved, the ones that stood out were: Involvement of minors with the use of narcotics; Lack of incentives for activities that generate income for the local population; Weakening of family farming and fishing; Lack of proper place to put the garbage; Lack of inspection by bodies such as IBAMA, SEMA, INCRA and IPAAM; Imbalance in the rural and urban relationship; Lack of provision of infrastructure and health, leisure and security services; Weakening of the sociability typical of the countryside; Changes in popular festivals. But in addition to pointing out the problems in that locality, another objective was to outline, together with the residents, possible ways to achieve the sustainability of the Mocambo agrovillage, based on interviews with the residents, a framework was created with these possible solutions, taking into account the principles of sustainability addressed by SACHS (2009). The discussion about rural territories, listening to residents' interventions and appeals, seeking paths that could lead to social and environmental sustainability in this location were aspects that led us to carry out this research. The agrovila do Mocambo proved to be not only the stage for a great folklore festival in the countryside, but also the stage for great neglect by the government when it comes to environmental issues.
