Resumo

This study analyzed the percentage of acceptance of the COVID-19 vaccine in riverside communities in the municipality of Careiro/AM, seeking to describe the level of adherence and identify associated factors. Method: The study, with a descriptive-exploratory and quantitative approach, was carried out on three different days and covered different riverside communities, with 152 interviews. Results: revealed that 93% of the interviewees completed the vaccination schedule, corresponding to 29.7% of the total population. The population studied is mostly composed of farmers, with an average income of up to one minimum wage and households with three residents on average. The predominant means of transportation includes canoes for river travel and buses for land access. Despite few confirmed diagnoses of COVID-19, a significant portion reported symptoms suggestive of the disease. Adherence was highest with the first dose, but decreased with subsequent doses, a phenomenon attributed to distrust in the vaccine's efficacy and fears about possible adverse effects. Conclusion: In addition, the data indicate that economic, logistical and sociocultural factors influence vaccination coverage. These challenges highlight the importance of implementing awareness-raising and access-expanding strategies to ensure greater vaccine uptake and strengthen public health in the region.
