Resumo

This article aimed to discuss the conservation of the cerrado ecosystem in Areia Branca in the municipality of Parintins from the perspective of Environmental Education, as well as to demonstrate the perception of the school community about the Cerrado de Areia Branca in Parintins/Am and to discuss the impacts that the Cerrado enclave area, popularly known as Areal de Parintins, is suffering. In view of this, the narratives presented address the contact that the population has with the place, the negative impacts generated by anthropic actions in the area and whether the teachers were aware that the Areia Branca is a Cerrado enclave. The methodological procedures used to achieve the objectives are equivalent to a qualitative research based on the phenomenological method, which used the collection of reports from students and teachers during the presentation of the theme, in addition to bibliographic research related to the Cerrado in Areia Branca soil. Therefore, this article highlights the lack of knowledge of the actors who made their reports, in addition to the need for more studies to be carried out and disseminated regarding the cerrado enclaves in the Amazon, as research on this topic is still in its infancy and the need for the study area to be preserved as it is a place that is suffering from anthropic impacts, from soil removal to the disposal of solid waste, which result in the loss of vegetation and the dispute for space, mainly among herbaceous vegetation.
