Resumo
Physical Education is highlighted as an essential curricular component for the holistic
development of students at different stages of schooling, especially in Early Childhood
Education. However, at this stage, teachers often face certain challenges, such as overcrowded
classes and the lack of more licensed professionals in the field. As a result, teachers must adapt
their methodologies to implement effective pedagogical practices to overcome these challenges.
The objective of this research was to report the challenges faced by a Physical Education teacher
working in Early Childhood Education at a private school in the city of Manaus-AM, based on
the perceptions of interns within the context of Supervised Internship. This research adopts a
qualitative approach, specifically an experience report. The experience occurred from April to
July 2024 in a private educational institution in the city of Manaus-AM. During the internship
activities, the main challenges observed included the overcrowding of students per class,
difficulty in maintaining students' focus and interest during lessons, and the lack of recognition
for the role of the Physical Education teacher. It is concluded that, despite the existing
challenges, the Physical Education teacher implemented specific pedagogical and
organizational teaching strategies, such as breaks for guidance and activity modifications,
which were important for overcoming the difficulties encountered during lessons. To mitigate
the negative consequences of the observed challenges, it is proposed to enhance the recognition
of teachers and improve school management to overcome barriers and maximize the benefits of
Physical Education in the context of Early Childhood Education.
