Abstract

The research “Experiences and life trajectories of residents in areas subject to flooding in Parintins/AM” analyzed urban living from the experiences of exclusion from housing policies and basic sanitation experienced by residents of areas subject to flooding in the city, who built their homes in areas of around lakes that flood periodically. The methodology in Oral History contributed to the survey of oral sources through interviews, analysis and interpretation of the reports of the social subjects of this research. Such a methodology tends to strengthen the Social History of common men and women, inserting them in the History of the city through their orality and memories. It was observed that these historical subjects fight for the city and that these occupations are resistance strategies in relation to social exclusion, as the residents of these locations live with the lack of public and housing policies that result in the lack of basic rights, sanitation and housing. In this sense, this work intends to make visible the voices of those people who fight for a space in the city facing social inequalities.
