Urucará (AM): papel econômico e social na rede urbana da região do Baixo Amazonas

Abstract

Understanding the dynamics that constitute cities in the present day is a complex work, such a result can be obtained, it is necessary that we focus on the historical processes that gave rise to. Therefore, the general objective of the present work is to analyze the economic and social role of the city of Urucará in the urban network of the Lower Amazon region. For this, both communities, and became important in Urucatumã with communities and cities to theirs (São Sebastião and Paridade do Uapira, Itapira and Parintins); To highlight from the flow of people, goods and merchandise how the urban dynamics that reproduces, structures and configures Urucará in Amazonas occur; produce maps showing the dynamics and flow of people and goods between Urucará and the cities of São Sebastião do Uatumã, Itacoatiara, Itapiranga, Parintins and Manaus. The methodology was adapted from the works of Leão (2011) and Sposito (2007), targeting small Amazonian cities. The research carried out directly (field research, interviews, photographic records, among and indirectly (obtaining data from the IBGE, related articles, city hall, IDAM, among others. It was based on agricultural activities, extractivism and fishing activities. Currently, agricultural production and permeates as activities that generate occupation and income in the city, which generates an intense number of people and goods existing between Urucará and other cities. that does not have significant industrial specialization and agricultural production, which in its Lower Amazon revenue mostly serves the local market.
