Resumo

This paper addresses a case study conducted at a company in the two-wheel industrial hub, specializing in compressor manufacturing, with the goal of reducing failure rates due to leakage between the cylinder and the cylinder head. The analysis identified the main cause as deformation of the cylinder head face, caused by the presence of chips pressed during the machining process. This article aims to present, based on quality tools such as the Ishikawa Diagram, and the 5 Whys, corrective actions were implemented in the process, including standardizing device cleaning, reviewing operational procedures, and team training. The research was based on an analysis of the sector's 2024 quality management results, with the goal of identifying critical points and opportunities for improvement. To this end, quality tools were employed to identify the root causes of the problems, allowing for the structuring and systematic monitoring of the implemented improvement actions. Data collection involved daily monitoring on the factory floor in the cylinder head machining area. The results demonstrated a significant reduction in chip deformations on the cylinder head face, improvements in the quality of machined cylinder heads, and a projected R$50,000.00 annual cost reduction in cylinder-to-head leakage warranties. The conclusion demonstrated an approximately 30% reduction in leakage failures, demonstrating the effectiveness of the interventions and the positive impact on product reliability and reduced warranty costs.
