Resumo

Over the last few decades, thousands of communities have formed in different regions of the Amazon, in areas of terra firme and várzea (floodplain), near rivers, channels, lakes, and other waterways. The riverside dwellers have adapted to the characteristics of each area, carrying out their daily lives and exploiting available resources. It is understood that, during this process, impacts on nature have occurred, disrupting ecosystems and affecting fauna, flora, and the riverside dwellers themselves. In this sense, this work aimed to analyze the anthropogenic environmental impacts on Lake Estácio, which has an area of 8.77 km². The methodology used integrated quantitative and qualitative methods, where the impacts of flood and ebb tides were surveyed. For data analysis, methodologies for environmental impact assessment (MAIA) were used, namely matrices and interaction networks. The results highlight the reduction in environmental quality resulting from the historical process of occupation of the region and the daily routines implemented by the residents, where impacts on the fauna and flora were evident. Therefore, the study emphasizes the need for actions aimed at caring for the region, so that the problems can be mitigated and, thus, the characteristics and richness of the region can be preserved.
