Resumo
This research presents results developed within the scope of “Reception and Practice of Classical Theater in the Training of Portuguese Language Teachers at CESP-UEA”. The research is based on studies by Spolin (1992), Iser (1996), Bourdieu (1996) Jauss (1979), Zilberman (2001), and Boal (2009), among others, which address themes on reception theory and the importance of theater practice in the classroom as a teaching strategy. The main objective was to investigate the reception among academics and graduates of Portuguese course in the CESP-UEA, between the years 2015 and 2025, regarding classical theater, specifically its practice through representations within the scope of curricular activities. The specific objectives of the research are to analyze how theatrical practice and the reading of classical theater in the classroom contribute to the pedagogical practices of academics; describe the contributions that classical theater made to the construction of the aesthetic taste of academics and graduates; discuss the importance of the practice of classical theater in Western culture and in the process of training Portuguese language teachers. It is expected that this research will contribute to studies on the importance of classical studies in the classroom and encourage future teachers to bring classical theater into the classroom as a teaching tool and be relevant as a theoretical reference for future research.
