Importância da literatura indígena na manutenção da identidade cultural amazonense

Abstract

The main objective of this Final Course Work, entitled “Importance of Indigenous Literature in the maintenance of the Amazonian cultural identity”, is to analyze the presence of Indigenous Literature in the classroom as a pedagogical tool capable of contributing to the maintenance of the Amazonian cultural identity. The research was carried out in a public school located in the municipality of Parintins and was based on authors such as Corrêa (2019), Dorrico (2020), Santos (2006), Silva (2017), Kambeba (2020), among others. The method used was phenomenological with a qualitative approach, through field and bibliographic research. The research subjects were two Portuguese Language teachers and 8th grade students of Elementary School. Data collection was carried out through a questionnaire with open questions directed to the teachers and students, in addition to two proposals for pedagogical workshops. This research aims to reflect on the importance of bringing Indigenous Literature to the classroom, with the intention of bringing visibility to indigenous people and deconstructing prejudices and stereotypes. However, through the study carried out, it was found that there is a significant gap in the teaching of Indigenous Literature in the classroom. One of the main challenges faced by teachers is the absence of works of Indigenous Literature, which results in the lack of approach to these works in the school context and consequently in the devaluation and lack of recognition of the origin of our cultural identity. To overcome these challenges, it is proposed to offer continuing education in the area of Indigenous Literature for teachers, since many have not had specific specialization or discipline to work with this topic in the classroom. Another suggestion would be to make works of Indigenous Literature available in free digital material, which would facilitate access and significantly improve the teaching of this content.
