O canto das águas: representações do pescador nas toadas do boi-bumbá Caprichoso

Abstract

The main objective of this study is to analyze how the fisherman is represented in the songs of the Boi-Bumbá Caprichoso. This qualitative and bibliographical research sought to map, understand, and interpret how the songs of the Boi-Bumbá Caprichoso express cultural values, collective identities, and the symbolic relationship between the Amazonian man and the rivers. To this end, the research sought to answer the following question: how is the fisherman represented in the songs of the Boi-Bumbá Caprichoso? For this, the research was mainly based on Silveira and Sena (2024), Silveira and Bianchezzi (2022), Silveira (2019), Rodrigues (2006), Monteiro (2010), Butel (2015), Gomes and Nascimento (2021), and Benchimol (2009). Mapping and analysis of the songs of the Boi-Bumbá Caprichoso that mention the figure of the fisherman were carried out, and through dialogue with the bibliography, it was found that the fisherman, when exalted in the songs of the blue and white group from Parintins, becomes the guardian of collective memories and the vital relationship with the river, reaffirming practices and knowledge that sustain life in the region and that resist external pressures on the Amazonian territory.
